Who we are
The Heart of the Kitchen
Chef Trevor brings over 25 years of culinary expertise to Hidden Treasures. His passion for food is matched only by his love of sports. Guests quickly discover that Trevor can identify their favorite team simply by hearing where they’re from, sparking lively conversations that often turn into spirited debates about coaches, players, and victories. The restaurant’s walls are adorned with team pennants and hats, gifted by customers who want to leave their mark on this lively sporting lounge.
Trevor’s cooking is a celebration of Bahamian flavors. Lobster, conch, shrimp, and fish are transformed into gourmet delights through grilling, jerking, blackening, or lightly battering and frying. His coconut peas and rice, sweet potato fries, and coleslaw are legendary, while every dish is prepared with the care and precision that makes guests feel their meal was made just for them.
The Spirit of Hospitality
At the front of the restaurant, Denice ensures every guest feels at home. With a smile and a welcoming presence, she manages the dining experience and crafts refreshing fruit smoothies and daiquiris that have become favorites among visitors. From the famous Flamingo Pink Pantas to tropical Mangoladas and soursop blends with mango, banana, or strawberry, Denice’s creations are as colorful and joyful as the island itself. Seasonal specialties like sapodilla and tamarind smoothies add a unique touch to the menu, making each visit a new adventure in flavor.
A Family Rooted in Faith and Community
Trevor and Denice are more than restaurateurs—they are devoted partners, parents, and grandparents who have built a life on Cat Island grounded in faith and gratitude. Originally from Nassau, they moved to Cat Island to pursue their dream of entrepreneurship and have flourished ever since. Their farm supplies much of the restaurant’s produce, including tomatoes, beets, cabbage, sweet peppers, hot peppers, sweet potatoes, and watermelons. This commitment to freshness ensures that every meal at Hidden Treasures is not only delicious but also deeply connected to the land.
The Bethels attribute their success to their trust in God, their dedication to family, and their appreciation for every customer who walks through their doors. Hidden Treasures is more than a restaurant—it is a gathering place where food, sports, and community come together in harmony.
